Where have all the insects gone????

I know that there is a worldwide problem of dissappearing Honey Bees but this summer it seems as though the only insects we have in our garden are Bumble Bees, Cabbage White butterflies and flies. There doesn't even seem to be many Wasps. Is anyone else having the same problem?

For me that ain't a problem, I noticed there aren't many wasps out there, but I'm glad they're not present like usual. But I did notice it, to answer your question, it's perhaps due to the current weather situation.

I think the changes in weather patterns could also be the cause.

We have loads of bumble Bees in the garden this year, but also a lot of normal bees. And now you mention it I've not seen many wasps, although I have seen a few, and those have seemed to be quite small compared to the normal ones we get.

Loads of Cabbage White butterflies, but I have seem a few red admirals and some moths, but definitely not as many as usual.

Spiders also seem to be down in number. Last year we had loads of them.

I've also not seen any hornets this year. I always see them.

There were however a lot of Damsel and Dragon flies early in the year, but that is because I live near to rivers and trees. Not many mosquitoes either (which is very good).

I've definitely noticed a lower number of insects overall though.

There are no where near the same number of certain insects that they used to be, but they still manage to do kamikaze runs straight into my eye balls every time I decide to go for a walk or ride my bike.

I've been in agony three times this week already!

The wet weather has seen an increase in midgie's however.

We've had the same discussions over here, because we haven't seen regular bees almost at all this year. The strange thing is that the amount of bumblebees seems to have risen.

I've seen barely any wasps. Could be the changeable weather, or maybe I just haven't been hangiong around the bins so much.

You are all mistaken.
There has been no increase in the bumblebee population.
Neither has there been a decrease in the normal bee or wasp population.

What you have here is another aspect of the obesity problem.

Look closer, they aren't all bumblebees.
