Thread: FTC leaks big Xbox future development details

The FTC has "leaked" a big Microsoft Xbox document detailing a mid-gen Xbox Series X refresh, codenamed Brooklyn.

This will cost the same, but features a smaller cylinder shaped case, double the built in storage, and a smaller component die size meaning less power consumption.

But it also scraps the physical disc drive of the current Series X. This will mean the Xbox range will no longer support any physical media and will be digital only. This is sure to upset game collectors, but the truth is that in last year's surveys 89.5% of all game sales were digital. This also pleases game publishers because it kills the secondhand games market.

But I'm not sure what this means for owners of older Xbox games from the original and 360, who at the moment can use their original discs to verify ownership to access current gen versions of their older games.

In addition to the leaked document detailing the console update it also goes into detail about a new controller. Very similar in look and layout to the current one it finally has a removeable rechargeable battery. Plus they are copying the PS5 controller's Heptic feedback. Just shows how Sony won this generation from the start and Xbox are trying to recover.

How "leaky" is the leak?

I wondered this too. Officially leaked more like as a publicity stunt.
