Thread: X Arcade controllers on Raspberry Pi.

I've owned an X Arcade 2 player controller for a long time, but it only just dawned on me that I've never tried it with a Raspberry Pi to see if it would work. Really don't know why I haven't thought of trying this before.

Did a quick Google and it is directly supported in Linux with drivers existing called xarcade2jstick. And you can easily set it up to fully work with a RPi4 running RetroPie by just installing the needed driver from its configuration menu. Then it will work as your player 1 and player 2 controllers.

I'm going to try this out at the weekend.

This video outlines the process and shows it working.

I also had a thought that with the size of a RPi and the Xarcade control case you could easily build a RPi inside of thy Xarcade and make it an all in one setup. Would be quite cool. I'm not going to do that though as I use my RPi4 for other stuff.

Did you receive the SD card? Perfect for testing.

Not yet. Hopefully it will arrive soon.

Due to the postal strokes before Christmas there is still mail stuck in the system, and I imagine airmail is likely the most delayed. I only received the Christmas card from my parents yesterday and mum said she posted it 2 weeks before Christmas. She could of handed it to me as she was here for Christmas.

I'm going to test the XArcade out with a small RetroPie setup I've got on a 128GB SD card I setup some time ago. It mainly only has MAME and Amiga roms, but will be good enough to test the controller.
