Thread: Star Wars X-Wing and Tie-Fighter Digital re-release!

Some great news for Star Wars fans. Arguably the best Star Wars games ever made, X-Wing and Tie-Fighter have just been re-released on GOG.com today!

They include the original DOS versions and the remastered and updated Windows releases. Repackaged and updated to run on current Windows setups. I own the originals still but it is so fiddly trying to get them to run these days that I've just grabbed these releases.

Find them here:

X-Wing was the first game i used an analog joystick. I do have good memories with this game.

These games surprisingly hold up well today and have aged really well. The slightly simplistic texturing of the ships still looks good and stylised these days, and the games still work because the cockpit graphics and visual controls were minimalistic and quite modern looking.

You also get both the DOS and Windows versions of the games to play in these new releases.. so you can experience the original DOS Midi audio scores, or the updated Windows music version with enhanced graphics.

I've also just discovered that X-Wing Alliance actually still installs and runs fine as it is and I still have my copy so that is great, plus the community has patched it for higher resolution textures and graphics, plus widescreen support, so I can enjoy this one too.
