Got to the bottom of a pile of boxes 2nd box from the bottom and there it was a boxed Commodore Amiga A500 in very good condition + a box of games + 30ish disks, 2 mice..Took home what i could, The Amiga is been delivered tonight could not carry box on the bike A better inspection tonight to see if it all works. and i didnt pay for it my mother did an early birthday present awsome.

Nice find. I suppose it is a perk of working in such a place. As long as they get a donation from someone for it all is good.

Hope it works.

Great find I always like to have a look round charity shops as you never know what one might find, some Amiga games would be nice one day

The best I ever found in charity shops were a couple of Amiga books. No hardware yet.

Its also amazing what people donate + what gets thrown out because its not good enough to sell. Since i known the staff the hardware that gets thrown out silly like some games consoles, handhelds.old books.

Hi All
An update i have just tried my A500 and bugger got a green screen so i think thats the chip ram. So have take it apart to re seat all the IC's .
Now i have to break the warranty seals
Many Thanks
Andrew1971

Update
Re seated all chips and by this time it was just the board power on, A520 plugged in still nothing. and then what happens when i take out memory upgrade board and it works now looking out for memory board. and i found out how much me mother paid for it £5 then she got her discount as well

Update 2
Now looking at the memory board its from Trilogic and has an on board switch and guess what the battery has leaked.

Update 3
There is a break in the track where the battery has leaked fingers crossed it might work. The battery is now off. All cleaned + some tracks are broken.
now to bridge the gaps in the tracks + find a replacement battery 3.6 volt.

You could replace the battery with a coin battery holder instead, but you would need to add a diode in line with the battery to prevent the Amiga trying to charge the battery. Or you can buy a direct replacement battery from amigakit.com, and they are a type that won't leak.

You could also just forget the battery as it will work OK without it.

You don't need to bridge the gaps where the battery was, it should work fine with it just removed, or did you mean the repairs to the broken PCB tracks?

I did mean the broken PCB tracks. Because of where the breaks in the track are some small wire is needed. To by pass the broken bits of track.
Many Thanks

Update
Tried to fix but no joy it's broken oh well.
Still happy with A500 though.
