Thread: Intel unveils 50 core processor!

You read that right! 50 cores!

Intel has unveiled a 50-core supercomputer processor called Knights Corner. This will be in the form of a PCI-E card for use in any workstation and is designed to work as a co-processor in a similar way to current graphics card GPU designs such as nVidia's Cuda and Fermi architectures.

This could see a huge boost for the 3D and video industry. Imagine having that power at your fingertips and the 3D or video editing programs you are using being able to utilise it for rendering. I bet it is going to be expensive though.
