I never thought I would say the cooling was too good in a PC!!!.

I transplanted my main PC into a new case a while back. A Coolermaster Stealth Sniper Black Edition. This new case has 3x 200mm intake fans and 1x 120mm exhault fan. The PSU is also mounted at the bottom and was a new one at the same time as the new case. A Cooler Master Silent Pro Modular PSU. Plus an Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro CPU heatsink/fan. All together it makes for amazing system cooling, with very quiet operation due to the size of the fans.

However.. now it is winter and getting colder by the day I've encountered a new problem. In the past my PCs have managed to keep my office nice and warm in the winter months and I've not even needed to have the radiator on in that room. But this PC setup is proving too good at cooling down the system. In fact it is cooling down the room!!!

As an example, this morning it was about 20 degrees in the room, but having the main PC system running for most of the day now the room is now 17.5 degrees and starting to feel a little chilly, and the system is running at about 18-20 degrees CPU temps. Quite amazing, but also quite cold!

One thing's for sure. Come summer it should be nice and cool in here!

You could use it as an air conditioning, in the summer you just leave it running idle, and during the winter, you should render graphics, convert movies or just unrar all the time, so it will stay hot

Today I left the system idling for a bit and was surprised to find the CPU running at 9 degrees C! That is the coolest I've ever seen a CPU idling at, and with the room temp about 18 degrees.

I was actually thinking that... I might leave the GPU version of folding@home running all the time when idling to increase my credit on Pleasuredome. I'm sure the GPU should be able to increase its temp enough to see some room warming benefit. It's one time I wish I was using an nVidia card instead of a Radeon for their much hotter output!

Install CPUID Hardware Monitor, leave it on for a few hours, maybe a whole day even, and show them values for our geeky pleasure.

I've since overclocked the CPU to 3.4GHz and it now idles around 25-30 Deg C, so not as cool, but still pretty good.

The util I mentioned doesn't only show CPU's temp, I want it all!

How did you get the CPU down to 9 degrees? Does it use more than just a fan, e.g. Peltier elements or water cooling?

That was ages ago when it was really cold weather and I didn't have the heating on in the office. So it was being helped along.

Since overclocking it stays in the 30's.
