Thread: My A1200 black project
Phantom 21:46 16th March 2010
Black is my favourite color, so I decided to paint my A1200 first (A4000 will follow).

The "flash" on the photos taken by the camera, reduces the quality more than the real thing.

Next step is to find those blue LEDs, if they exist somewhere.

Also, the keys are taken from a CDTV keyboard.

A1200's look so freakin' sexy in black!

Comodore made the CDTV black, they should have done the same with the A1200. Black plastic doesn't discolour as far as I know, not that they knew that back then.

Great job and good skills!

Looks great.

BTW, how easy is it to find CDTV keyboards? I've seen quite a few people use them to obtain black keys for A1200 projects, but not seen many for sale myself.

I think CDTV keyboards aren't so rare as they seem to be.

What black paint did you use? And did you add any layers of lacquer to protect it?

The paint is a spray for car's bumpers. You don't need to use something else.

I do like that. Is there anything you can do about the flap of the floppy drive?

There isn't a flap on Amiga internal drives so that picture is just showing the internals of the drive.

Ohhh.... yeah. I'd forgotten that. Been a long time since I looked at my amiga. Still, a shame it can't be made a little less conspicuous.
