Thread: A500+ Keyboard problems
Stephen Coates 20:28 21st October 2009
I just dug out my A500 Plus, which unfortunately, has been packed away for a good few months.

It all worked, except for a keyboard problem which it had before it was packed away.

The CTRL, Amiga and Shift keys don't seem to do anything. Therefore, I can't do a three finger salute to reset, type capital letters etc. I haven't tested the Alt key, but the Caps Lock key works fine. Everything seems nice and clean and is connected properly.

Anyone got any ideas why this might be happening and how to fix it?

Thanks

Have you tried the old A500 trick of swapping the two motherboard CIA chips over?

I tried swapping the CIA chips but it made no difference.

It could be the keyboard controller chip on the actual keyboard then, or the cable or connector from the keyboard to the motherboard.

Hopefully I will have this sorted soon. A LAG member has offered me an A500 for free. I was going to collect it at LAG this weekend, but I decided not to go, so I will pay for postage. Might get it in the next couple of weeks.
