Thread: Vista SP2 finally makes Windows Update
Harrison 11:24 28th May 2009
Vista Service Pack 2 finally appeared in my new Windows updates today, so it seems they are finally distributing it to all. Although it has been available for direct download for a few weeks now.

Until now I've always held off installing service packs until they had been out for some time and I knew all bugs were ironed out. But in this case SP2 has been pretty well beta tested prior to release and the fixes and updates it offers are not as drastic as service packs of old.

So I am going to install this one today (after saving a restore point). But I'm not going to be using the Windows Update to install it. Instead I'm currently downloading the standalone installer so I can have a copy of CD for reinstalling if I ever need to. It is however quite a big download at 577MB, and you have to download a different one for 32bit and 64bit versions of Vista.

I will let you know how it goes.
