Thread: yay my 030 is here

Hi guys,
My Blizzard 030 with 64m RAM has just arrived. So get ready for a few questions just wondering if there is anything I need to know instructions wise? Do i just plug n play? Is it like the 060 blizzards where I may need to deactivate the card to stop games running to fast? If so how do I do that? I dont have a HDD installed yet so wont be using WHDLoad unless I put it on my flash card that I use with my easy adf transfer kit that goes in the pcm/cia slot thing. HDD is the next step and harrison has just given me some advice on that cheers dude !
I just realised I only have the original A1200 power supply unit at the moment, I have no HDD but i do have 2 external floppy drives, with the 030 added will it overload the psu and damage something? I have a A500 psu on its way from ebay will that be enough? or should I get an adapted pc psu?
cheers

Plug and play. You're PSU should be enough to run the 1230 and a HDD.

Although an A500 PSU will be OK for the moment, in the future I'd get a Goliath or another PSU adapted from a higher powered PC PSU as that will be better for powering multiple expansions.

I ran a 1200 with 1230 + scsi + HDD and extra floppy drive off a standard 12000 PSU for years so you'll be fine as you are.

Mine had severe trouble doing that, until I replaced PSU.

It depends on each PSU. Mine wasn't good enough to run my A1200 with a 1230, 2.5" HD and laptop DVD/CD-RW. An A500 PSU worked fine though. But I normally run it using a Goliath PSU.

can i damage anything by trying?

No. The system will just be unstable if the PSU is not strong enough. Normally it either won't boot properly. Might cause a red guru screen. Or it might load workbench but then suddenly reboot/reset while using the system.
