Thread: Trying to get 1.4 Beta ROMs (from A3000) to work in WinUAE

Hi,

I'm trying to get the A3000 1.4 ROMs to work in WinUAE. They're in the correct directory (with the rest of my ROMs) and WinUAE's ROM scanner recognises that I have them, I'm using the latest WinUAE (from the website) and I am using the Quick Configuration to set A3000 and 1.4 ROM.

When I click Start (or OK) I just get a blank screen.
I put it into windowed mode and did a screenshot too:

Any ideas? Do I have to do anything special with these?

Isn't the 1.4 rom for the A3000 just a boot strap rom? Expecting to find a kickstart rom image on the Amiga HD to continue its booting process?

I've never owned an A3000 with a 1.4 rom so don't know exactly how it functions. Should a 1.4 rom based A3000 boot to the kickstart screen without an HD present?

I've never come across an A4000 with the 1.4 ROM, only an A3000
Anyway, I got it working, the files had to be merged. I done that by downloading ROMUTILS.ZIP from the WinUAE site, then executing the following command:

rommerge <rom0 file name> <rom1 file name> A3000.ROM 2

This made a working file for me.

Typo now corrected

Interesting that you needed to merge the two roms before they would work. Could you attach the merged rom to the private downloads thread so we have the merged file for future reference?

I checked th TOSEC that's already in the private downloads area, this file is not included in that collection (the 1.4 versions in there are alphas and don't provide the A3000's SuperKickstart functionality)
