Thread: End of the World?

It would be better if something more exotic happened...like in creating the Higgs boson, they also create the antiparticle which would remove mass from other particles. We would all become weightless and float off into space.

Or it would just allow us to finally invent the hovercar!

It'd be more fun if some of the scientists (especially the keyboard player from D:Ream) got transported to a parralel dimension where they had to find there way back ala Sliders.

Due to technical difficulty the end of the world has been delayed until early next year which means yet another christmas with annoying relatives.

Yes, this breakdown of the accelerator is quite annoying!

I bet the failed parts were made in Britain. If the British had built the Death Star the rebels wouldn't have bothered stealing the plans as it would be trillions over budget, take at least 5 years longer than expected and the giant laser would be just about powerfull enough to light a rugby players fart at close range.

You dream of the world ending and once it's switched on everybody is wondering about with silly voices and wondering why the LHC doesn't work (for those who didn't know the problem was due to a leak of liquid Helium that caused some magnets to overheat). Still it'll give Brian Cox a chance to revive his pop career and rerelease "Things, can only get better".

I'd like to D:REAM make a giant comback and at the start of their first concert at Wembley, they sing "Things can only get better" JUST AS THE WORLD ENDS.

In the afterlife, it would be voted as THE most ironic moment on Earth, ever.

You lot will all be laughing on the other side of your dimension if this thing ****s up.

But seriously though, science is cool, and there are a lot of people worried about the LHC and tehy really shouldn't be. I took 'a brief history of time' to read on holiday and it said some stuff about things so don't worry and all that, even though it was written well before the LHC had even been thought of (although smaller accelerators were around).

Also, if we're all going to die, it will happen in a nanosecond so there's nothing you can do about it. You won't even know. Just chill!
