Thread: A4000 IDE port
Harrison 08:32 5th August 2008
Does anyone know if the IDE port in the A4000 is buffered?

I thought of this when I was installing the buffered interface into the A1200. I'm currently running two devices (HD and CD-RW) from a single ribbon cable and the IDEFix software in the A4000 and that works perfectly.

And is it possible to get something like the A1200 buffered interfaces for the A4000? Would be good to be able to hook up 4 devices.

I have seen Zorro IDE cards such as the FastATA MK-IV, but they are always so expensive. amigakit for example are selling that card for £80. Ridiculous price.

IDE interfaces for the 4000 are in Zorro format. Just found this to help a 1200 goto zorro and it'll go cheap as the seller hasn't listed this one very well at all.

That is still quite expensive.

I was actually talking about the motherboard mounted original IDE port in the A4000 and if it is buffered or not. And if a buffered interface like the A1200 ones could be used with it? To add 4 devices.

Was just a thought I had so I could have two HDs and a CD drive in the A4000 together.
