Thread: Shark attack!!!!!

Just popped onto the Elbox site and was looking at the new Mediator card when i noticed something interesting in the hardware requirements.

The minimum hardware configuration is: Amiga 1200 in tower case with a 4MB RAM expansion card.

The recommended configuration is: Amiga 1200 in the E/BOX tower case, any 68060 (or PPC with 68060) turbo card with 64MB RAM, a SharkPPC G3/G4 card with 256MB SDRAM, a Voodoo4 graphic card.

Does this little hint mean that we may be getting Sharks now???
The down side is it looks like the Dragon card has been binned which means the end of the dream of powerfull true classic Amigas.

That's very interesting. Lets hope this is the case.

Problem is it's back to shelling out for new mediator card, Shark PPC card, Graphics card, Sound card, possibly an ethernet card, os4.0 and then finding out you can't play most of your games because you have Irrate Ape's pack and OS4.0 doesn't like WHDLoad. But then if you're lucky you'll be able to run UAE and so have a classic Amiga on your classic Amiga.

The manual for the original mediators also say that a SharkPPC is recomended.

Sorry if this dissappoints you .

But it doesn't mean that we won't ever be seeing a Shark.

Bugger. You would've thought Elbox would've updated their requirements. Well my bank account can breathe a sigh of relief.

Elbox deserves a lot of praise for supporting the Amiga, and it could be that we will see more products coming from them this year.

On their news section, they have written:

Doesn't look all bad, does it?

And they've already delivered by releasing the new Mediator. Good job!
