Thread: ColdFire

Has anyone heard about the Dragon coldfire accelerators?

It looks really interesting because it is supposed to be compatible with 68k software, and therefore 68k software will run much faster but without having to be emulated like it would if it was on a PPC system..

They are curently 266MHz according issue 25 of Total Amiga, which I recently subscribed to.

Also, could someone tell me when I will get to stop having to wait ages for my posts to appear?

I'm sure I've heard the name Coldfire but don't know anything about them.

Coldfire is the name of the processor, and they are made by Freescale, who also now make PPCs and 68ks.

The Dragon boards are made by Elbox and are degisned to work with one of their PCI board.

I seem to remember somebody else was looking to produce something along these lines as well as Elbox.
Can't remember who.
Will look into it.
