Thread: Languages

As you know, I'm currently studying Japanese. It has finished for the year and I know that when you go on holidays, you forget things that you have learnt. I found My Happy Planet, which connects you with people around the world who also are learning or speak that language! very useful!

I've always been terrible at languages and barely have a grasp of English but i've always found that when studying a language, insults are the first thing you should learn as when you are doing the "If i speak slowly and loudly in English they will understand" you will know what they really think and then can sling an insult back at them.
I'm fluent in insults in Greek, Italian, Urdu, Turkish, Mandarin and Cantonese.

Aha, another person fluent in the use of offensive Cantonese words. Most excellent.

Definitely useful to know the insults of a country you are visiting. That way you know when you are not welcome in shops, can throw what you were going to buy at the shop keeper, insult them back, and walk out!

Sometimes it's just good to know if whoever you are talking to has the assumption that you are a typical ignorant English person. Then you insult them back in a different language altogether. Insulting a Greek in Turkish or vice versa is always inflamitary.
